Crossmaglen edged out Dromore by 2-6 to 0-11 in Sunday's AIB Ulster Club Football Championship semi-final.

Cross led 2-4 to 0-6 at half-time thanks to two goals from Martin Aherne but only managed to add two points after the break, both from frees.

Dromore put up a brave effort and were the better team in the second half, adding five points to their tally in their first ever Ulster semi-final.

Tony Kernan scored the winning point from a 45 in the last minute at Clones.

Tony Kernan also scored a first-half point and Oisin McConville, John McEntee, Michael McNamee and Aaron Kernan were also on target with points for the Armagh champions in front of a crowd of 7,000.

Colm McCullagh (3), Eoin McCusker (2), Ryan McMenamin (2), Sean O'Neill, Shane McMahon, Kevin O'Brien and Sean McDonnell were the Dromore pointscorers.

Cross will now play St Gall's in the final at Newry next Sunday at 1400 GMT.

After the match Cross manager Donal Murtagh said that the result "could have gone either way right to the end".

"It was a crucial score by Tony Kernan after both sides had missed chances. Tony stepped up to the mark when he was needed and it just scraped over," said Murtagh.

"We lost a lot of possession in the second half and survived an onslaught from Dromore whose tackling was exceptional, hitting man and ball.

"St Gall's are a good team who were unlucky not to reach an All-Ireland final a few years ago but you don't expect easy games in an Ulster final," he added.

Dromore boss Noel McGinn felt his side could have won the game.

"We had chances and played some good football but one or two things just didn't go our way," he said.
