Sheene rules out chemotherapy
Barry Sheene
Sheene enjoyed considerable success in the 1970s
Two-time 500c world motorcycling champion Barry Sheene has rejected chemotherapy and plans to use a natural remedy in his bid to beat cancer.

The 51-year-old was diagnosed with cancer of the throat and stomach last month, but is to turn to alternative therapy in his battle to beat the disease.

"I am not going to subject my body to chemotherapy," said Sheene, who now lives on Australia's Gold Coast. "I believe I can beat this thing with natural therapy."

Sheene is following a strict diet devised by Austrian Rudolf Breuss, who was born more than 100 years ago.

"I have been using his methods ever since the cancer was diagnosed," said Sheene.

"I haven't eaten for the past 12 days, but today I've just had a few vegetables. I'm just going to carry on as normally as I can.

"I have made a decision about not doing chemotherapy and that's it. I'm putting my faith in the natural way."

The natural way includes drinking a mixture of organic beetroot, carrots, celery, Chinese radish and potato.
