Schumacher has failed in his aim to challenge for the drivers' championship

Former Renault team boss Flavio Briatore thinks Michael Schumacher's return to Formula 1 with Mercedes was a mistake, adding that the German is too old to compete with younger drivers such as 25-year-old team-mate Nico Rosberg. "At 41, you simply cannot keep up with Rosberg and all the other guys," said Briatore.

Schumacher has been testing 180 horsepower KTM and Honda racing bikes with friends ahead of returning to the cockpit for the forthcoming Singapore Grand Prix. It was when testing the same sort of IDM bikes in early 2009 that Schumacher fell and hurt his neck - an injury that prevented him from racing in place of the injured Massa at Ferrari last August.
