Button confident over season
Jenson Button is still seeking an F1 victory after 65 races
2004 is a big year for Button
Jenson Button believes he can end his quest for a Grand Prix victory in 2004 - a year he admits will decide his Formula One destiny.

The 23-year-old Briton is confident his BAR-Honda car can secure his long sought-after maiden win and possibly bring him a return to Williams.

"We're very positive that we'll be challenging for race wins," he said.

Button's best result is fourth in a 65-race career which began with Williams in 2000.

"This year is going to be very important for me - my results will choose the path of my career.

"But I have got a contract with BAR for 2005 and 2006 and that is where I am at the moment."

Third would be mega, and I do think it's possible
Jenson Button on BAR's championship chances

Button has been linked with a return to Williams at the end of this year to replace McLaren-bound Juan Pablo Montoya.

The Colombian who took his place in the team in 2001.

Button insists his long-term goal is being crowned world champion - with whatever team.

"It's not going to happen this year - well, it's very unlikely. But we can get close to that.

"For me, second or fifth or seventh in the championship doesn't make much difference. It's the team that I'm thinking about more than anything else.

"I think things could be very close this season between Ferrari, Williams and McLaren.

"It's going to be a very close season - and BAR is going to be pushing them as well. You might not believe me, but we are going to be."
