The Jersey Seniors Classic golf tournament in June is once again an official date in the European Seniors Tour calander.

Last year Bobby Lincoln claimed victory at La Moye Golf Club, which has hosted Seniors Tour events since 1996.

Previous winners on the island course include Sam Torrance, Ian Woosnam, Tony Jacklin and Howard Clark.

Director of the European Senior Tour Andy Stubbs said: "We are delighted to be returning to La Moye Golf Club."

The Jersey Seniors Classic, which boasts a prize fund of 140,000, is the only event on the tour which sees amateurs play alongside professionals.

The island's Department for Economic Development is supporting the tournament.

The department's assistant minister, Deputy Alan Maclean, believes Jersey will benefit from publicity surrounding the competition.

"The television coverage provided for the Jersey Seniors Classic event last year showed the island and our golfing facilities to a worldwide audience," he said.
