Dodd aiming for Shanghai repeat
Stephen Dodd
Dodd wants to rediscover his form of 2004 and 2005
Wales' Stephen Dodd is hoping for a return to the top of the leaderboard at this week's China Open in Shanghai.

Dodd won the event - which is co-run by the European and Asian Tours - in 2004, sparking a prolific run in which he also won the European and Irish Opens.

But Dodd has not enjoyed much success since his purple patch.

"It's always nice to come back to venues where you've had success - that win was a good springboard for success," said Dodd.

"It was nice to follow the China Open with the Irish Open shortly afterwards just to show it wasn't a one-off. Doing it again means you know it wasn't a fluke.

"I'm looking for a decent week so fingers crossed I will play in a way I'm happy with.

"The form has not been where I want it the last six or eight months but form comes and goes.

"But I'm looking at the next few weeks to hopefully get some form ready for the middle of the season back in Europe."

Dodd will return to a significantly different course at the Shanghai Silport Golf Club, with a new front nine likely to put a premium on accuracy off the tee.

"I had a practice round today and it's narrow in places but in fantastic condition. You won't hear any complaints," he said.

"It will be an interesting week. The course is set up really well for driving. You have to drive it straight and the greens are just perfect."
