Wales grab advantage in World Cup
Bradley Dredge and Stephen Dodd

Welsh pair Bradley Dredge and Stephen Dodd head into the final round of the WGC-World Cup with a two-shot lead after a magnificent fourball 61.

England's David Howell and Luke Donald shot a 63 to share second with Sweden's Henrik Stenson and Niclas Fasth.

France carded 61 to trail by five and Denmark (63) are six off the pace.

Irish duo Padraig Harrington and Paul McGinley and Scot's Scott Drummond and Stephen Gallacher improved to shoot 64 but are still down the order.

Wales went top of the leaderboard when Dredge sank a 25-foot eagle putt from just off the 15th green.

They were also helped when the English pair, co-leaders with Wales and Sweden overnight, struggled on the par-five 17th.

Donald missed a five-foot birdie putt and Howell three-putted from 20ft after lining up an eagle opportunity.

"I'm struggling to calm down from it, to be honest with you," said Howell, who angrily tossed his ball into the water as he walked off the green.

A Welsh victory would be their first in this event since Ian Woosnam and David Llewellyn won in 1987.

And Dredge was delighted with their third round, saying: "We knitted really nicely. It's always nice when we beat England at rugby, so it would be great to beat them at golf."

England's Donald remained hopeful of a comeback: "Two shots in foursomes is nothing," he said. "We are both good putters - we will putt better on Sunday."
