Young guns fire Europe
Furyk/Funk v Garcia/Donald
(Europe win 1up)

Luke Donald and Sergio Garcia
Unbeaten Sergio Garcia and Luke Donald continued their brilliant Ryder Cup campaign with a 1-up foursomes win over Americans Jim Furyk and Fred Funk.

The European duo, the youngest players in the contest with a combined age of just 50, made the turn with a two-hole cushion and held on down the back nine.

Europe were three ahead with four to play, but were forced all the way after losing the 15th and 17th.

Donald holed out at the last after a shrewd long set-up putt from Garcia.

The win put their side 11-5 ahead going into the final day of 12 singles matches, with just 3 more points needed for victory.

But Garcia, who has now won 3 out of four points in the 2004 contest, warned against complacency.

If you go in with that mentality you are probably going to lose," he said.

"We have to go out and play as hard as we can in Sunday's first few matches to give ourselves a good chance."
