1908: Sir Donald Bradman was born. The Australian master batsman scored 28,067 runs in first-class cricket between 1927 and 1949.

In 52 Test matches he scored 6,996 runs at an average of 99.94 per innings. He died in February 2001.

1990: Graham Gooch scored 88 in England's second innings in the third and final Test against India at The Oval.

It took his total in the six Tests that summer to 1,058 runs. Sir Donald Bradman's previous record of 974 for a series had stood since 1930.

2000: Celtic romped to an emphatic 6-2 win over Old Firm rivals Rangers.
