BBC Sport gets a new look
The BBC Sport website has changed its design
The BBC Sport website has undergone some big changes. Editor Ben Gallop explains all.

We've revamped the site to make it easier to use.

If you're familiar with our Cricket World Cup site, the new look will not come as much of a surprise.

The concise, compact style of the cricket pages has been implemented across BBC Sport as a whole.

You may have noticed that our sister site, BBC News Online, had already changed its look - and now Sport has undergone a similar facelift.

This is the biggest change to the site since we launched, back in the summer of 2000 - and it's the result of what we've learned about the way you use the site.

There are a number of key features that are different:

  • The most dramatic change is that pages across the site are 30% wider.

This will allow us to showcase more of our best news stories and features - and it will mean less scrolling for you.

  • The website has been redesigned with BBC Sport's brand new yellow-and-black colour scheme.

Anyone who watched the FA Cup and Six Nations on TV at the weekend will have seen the sharp new branding used in our broadcasting graphics.

  • The navigational links on the left-hand side of the pages have been overhauled.

The various sports now have their own individual homepages, where we can give you the most relevant information.

And certain sports - horse racing, snooker, cycling and US sports - have been given greater priority on the main Sport homepage.

  • The Sports Talk section has been renamed as "Have Your Say".

We have made major changes in this area already, with the introduction of the 606 messageboards for football - and we are constantly looking for new ways for you to interact with BBC Sport.

Crucial changes have been made behind the scenes too.

The redesign and technical improvements should mean the site downloads much more quickly.

This re-launch is designed to make life easier for our users - and we really hope you find that the site has improved.

We've provided answers to some of the concerns you may be having. There's a link on the top right-hand side of the page - to The New Look, Your Questions Answered. Please read them before emailing.
