Nigeria's players have had their departure for South Africa delayed

Nigeria's squad have had their departure for the World Cup finals in South Africa delayed by a technical hitch on their plane.

The Super Eagles were supposed to leave their training camp in the south of England on Monday night.

But the squad are still at Stansted Airport after their aircraft developed unspecified problems.

The Nigerian government has ordered a new aircraft to fly in from Paris to take the team to South Africa.

The BBC has spoken to several players in the party, who say they do not yet know when they will be travelling.

The Nigerian High Commission in South Africa had sent a delegation to the airport in South Africa to meet the team.
