1902: Devrim
A great effort put forth by the Germans. Pekerman leaving Messi and Saviola on the bench was a huge tactical mistake. Their pace could have turned the game.

1859: d22ghj
The host nation always does well. No-one thought South Korea would get to a semi-final of a World Cup - case in point. Germany are a good side but have clearly been thoroughly buoyed by playing home match after home match after home match.

1857: marklv
It seemed to me that the Germans were even more negative. What did they do until the Argentina goal? Nothing. Just sat back.

1854: JackHughesByZola
Disgraceful scenes at the end - anyone know what sparked it off? Argentina deserved to lose - too negative after scoring their goal. No Messi but Cruz?

1848: WizardGarcia
Once again, the Germans prove that an average team can get results with the right mentality.

1843: Bluevaio
Great game and I think the right team won. Argentina's negative approach lost them the game.

1830: Slug
Germany will win on penalties, they have the nerve

1820: Dave
51 fouls in 109 minutes of play. That's nearly one every two minutes. No wonder we're bored.

1817: SNSK
Cruz should have been sent off for that vicious elbow. Lahm has a massive black eye and Argentina should be down to ten.

1812: Ryan
Ballack should have been booked for his dive. He was barely touched, he's done an Henry

1805: Blue3000
I think Argentina will be glad for penalties, I can't see them scoring from anything other than a set piece now

1754: TLOAS
Fitness could tell now seeing as Germany had an easy match against the Swedes whereas Argentina had to see Mexico off in extra time

1750: OMJ
Argentina deserve to go out simply because of the negativity shown by their coach, Pekerman. Now Argentina have their three crucial players - Riquelme, Saviola and Messi on the bench with extra-time and penalties looming!

1746: GTA5
Neuville is a good change by Klinsmann - he saved the last sub and now it is Germany on the front foot for the last five minutes until Peckerman can get them in for re-organization

1743: MF76
Argentina are starting to break down, they went into a defensive shell and now Germany have tied. Without Riquelme to playmake it's going to be hard to mount any type of attack.

1738: GTA5
Peckerman has put himself in a hole now the Germans have scored. All three subs used. Messi and Saviola are now forced to watch frustrated from the bench.

1729: dave_bloggs
Another two minutes break in play for the Argentine goalkeeper. That's five minutes to add on. I wonder if they'll have the bottle to add five minutes on?

1722: SNSK
The pace of Odonkor brought on down the right to attack Sorin who is on a yellow card. Trying to draw out a red card from the Argentines I think. Good tactics from Klinsmann.

1711: bliarmustgo
Germany are playing so terribly Argentina may fancy a second. Its a shame both teams cant go out today, they deserve to

1709: Bluevaio
I think Argentina will now sit on that lead until the final whistle

1707: SNSK
A foul on the German defender, I thought it should have been disallowed

1700: TKP
Argentina's game is to control possession and wear down Germany even if it takes 120 minutes. They have the deeper squad and better resources. They also know that Germany is a good counter-attacking team so they are being patient with their openings. This could backfire, as we saw with the Ballack header, Germany only need one pinpoint cross. I think Germany will come out strong in the second half and Argentina will try to weather the storm. Argentina should get stronger as the game goes on.

1655: secretannakin
The Germans are taller than the Argentines so it's to Argentina's advantage to keep the ball on the ground and they're doing a good job of that so far. In the second half I think Germany's players will tire and holes will begin to open up in their defence.

1650: kobashi05
Tight games with high skill level are not boring. I like to watch sides attempt to break the opposition down with creativity and imagination

1646: SNSK
High profile games are always an anti-climax

1645: ST2006
Like a chess match at the moment, if this was England playing it would be classed as BORING

1643: OMJ
The longer the game goes on without Germany scoring, the better it would be for Argentina. One thing that has suprised me is Germany's defence, it's not as bad as people made it out to be!

1640: ernham
Argentina seem impotent when attacking the goal and Germany's passing game has been uncharacteristically weak

1637: CR
Argentina have the better options from the bench that could take advantage of tired legs towards the end of the second half

1635: Bluevaio
Scoring goals is becoming near impossible as we approach the finals

1631: Jozi2010
Plenty of ball time, but no clear chances for Argentina. Germany look very tight in defence

1629: Blue3000
Pretty equal so far, I can definitely see this running over 90 minutes already...

1622: tiger_soup
Argentina have got to find the gaps at a higher pace

1616: alphaLordy
The Germans are going to get found out here - they have not had to play anyone with strength throughout the tournament and already they are coming unstuck in the final third with Argentina keeping the ball more

1613: Bluevaio
Whenever the Germans get the ball in the Argentine half they look dangerous

1611: Blue3000
It'll be interesting to see how Germany do now without scoring an early goal. With the exception of the Poland game they've always had a goal within five minutes to steady their nerves

1605: SNSK
The Argentines are already starting to dive

1600: OMJ
It's unfortunate that Germany and Argentina have got to meet as early as the quarter-final

1555: SSB
The Argentinians have far more class in midfield

1548: BB
This should be a high scoring game. After an early goal the game will open up and both sides will really attack each others throats

1545: tiger_soup
Argentina will need to cut out the German aerial threat if they are to win today

1543: Bluevaio
The first goal is vital, whoever gets it should go on to win this one

1540: AfricansRule
The winner of this match will go on to win the World Cup

1535: K2
Argentina will be up against the referee and will probably have a man sent off

1532: De-Loper
I can just imagine the look on Diego Maradona's face if Argentina are knocked out

1528: Ricky
An early Crespo goal will seal the fate of the Germans!

1525: swindonabroad
This is such a hard game to call - not for who I think will win, but who I WANT to win

1523: bdejongh
Argentina's surplus in quality will overcome the hosts today

1518: pointofblue
With home support behind them, I think the Germans will do it

1514: GSG
If it goes to penalties, Lehman WILL save a few and I think this will decide it

1511: Banditdan66
One thing is for sure, it will be a tightly fought and very close game

1507: Homer-J
Tevez in for Saviola is a great shout by Argentina

1503: James
Who's going to be key? Where will the match be won and lost?
