With all the talk about both teams potentially wanting to finish second in their group, I was not surprised that both were not attacking full force. Many Dutch fans would actually be quite pleased to end second.
I rate Holland after the games they have played - they are very tough to beat and they have got a score to settle with Portgulal after the European Championship - good luck to them!
All I know is that if, like a lot of these fans, you'd travelled potentially thousands of miles to go to this game, and paid god knows how much, the level of effort shown by these sides would have left me really disappointed. If they were both happy for a draw, they should have let the fans in on the secret and let them go to the pub instead.
Argentina were comfortable and showed that their squad is full of more than just 11 quality players.
I like how Argentina is using this game - their last game before the knockout stages - to get some more and different players out there and try some new things. Too bad that Sven-Goran doesn't have that sort of creativity and imagination.
Argentina look pretty average now that they are playing a proper team.
The only thing one can conclude from this disappointing half is that the Dutch have decent defenders (the thing they are not known for).
Pretty relaxed pace to the game so far, not really the intensity you'd expect but I suppose neither side wants to over-attack. Besides both are through. A few sparks from talented youngsters on both sides however.
I think the fact that Riquelme and Messi are starting shows that Argentina are a little bit into winning this tournament. Watch for the interplay between them, Cambiasso and Mascherano.
I think the runner-up will be in better shape! The winner faces Mexico then Germany/Sweden, while the
runner-up faces Portugal then England/Ecuador.
Both these teams are stronger than Portugal on current form, but Germany could be very very strong at home.
This should be an exciting match, with both teams resting their regulars. I expect Argentina to come out on top as their bench-strength is more than that of Holand's. In fact Brazil will struggle to match the bench-strength of this Argentina team!
