Plymouth Argyle Ladies are set to strengthen their squad by signing United States Under-21 international Brittany Toppert.

The midfielder has previously played for the Boston Breakers in the Women's Professional Soccer League.

Toppert, 26, is moving to Plymouth with her husband Cody who has recently signed for the Plymouth Raiders.

Plymouth Ladies boss Rhys Sullivan said: "Brittany is vastly experienced and will make us extremely powerful."

"Her arrival combined with the return of England Under-23 central defender Jemma Rose and former club captain Katie Middleton.

"We will be an experienced team, full of quality, and will undoubtedly be making a serious title challenge for promotion to the national league."

Toppert, who graduated from Arizona State University having secured a place in the top four all time goals list, said she is extremely excited about moving to Plymouth.

"I can't wait to get to Plymouth and begin training for the upcoming season.

"Football is my passion and to have an opportunity to play in the county known for the best football in the world is truly a blessing," she said.
