Wycombe Wanderers keeper Nikki Bull staying grounded

Goalkeeper Nikki Bull is refusing to get carried away after drawing praise for his recent performances in the Wycombe Wanderers goal.

The 28-year-old summer recruit has yet to concede in League Two this season.

He told BBC Three Counties Radio: "Over the course of the season there will be times when I don't play well and the strikers will get me out of trouble.

"My saves this season are no more important than midfielders making tackles and defenders winning headers."

Oxford, Stockport and Morecambe have all failed to make the former Brentford stopper pick the ball out of his own net in the league this term, something he attributes to a new approach to the game.

"I've totally changed my outlook on life and football over the last nine or 10 months," he said.

"I work so hard Monday to Friday, I know that come Saturday I feel like I've done all I can to play well.

"The two most important things for a goalkeeper are the respect of your team-mates and having a manager who believes in you."

While Bull has been producing heroics between the posts, the Chairboys' frontmen have failed to find the net in their last two outings.

It is not something that concerns the ex-Aldershot man.

"Our last couple of displays have been disappointing, a few people have been saying we've had a bad start," he added.

"We've not conceded a goal, we're unbeaten and we have five points.

"If that's a bad start, when we get it together we're going to be a good side."
