Dons seek statue inspiration
A statue of one of Wimbledon's historical moments is set to grace their new stadium.
A bronze statue of Vinnie Jones holding Paul Gascoigne's groin is one of three ideas being discussed to mark their relocation to Milton Keynes. The winning goal by Lawrie Sanchez and Dave Beasant's penalty save from Wimbledon's 1988 FA Cup final triumph over Liverpool at Wembley are the others being considered. The Dons are planning to construct a new 28,000 all-seater stadium at Denbigh North. Club spokesman Reg Davis said: "All new stadiums seem to have a statue outside and we are looking to add more ambience to our ground. "There are approximately 150 large public sculptures in Milton Keynes and the concrete cows are the second most famous piece of modern-day sculpture in Europe."
