Wigan secure signing of Connolly
Striker David Connolly
Connolly said the move came about very quickly
Wigan have signed Leicester's David Connolly on a three-year deal for an initial fee of 2m, rising to 3m if they stay up in the Premiership.

The 28-year-old, who has had spells at Watford, Feyenoord, Wolves, West Ham and Wimbledon, had already scored five goals for the Foxes this term.

"I'm delighted to be in the Premiership at last," the Republic of Ireland player told the Wigan club website.

"Wigan's a forward-thinking and ambitious club, with a great manager."

Latics boss Paul Jewell was equally pleased with the move.

"This signing just proves that patience is a virtue," he told the club website.

"We've had to wait until deadline day itself but I feel we've landed a top-quality forward who will give us something different from what we already have."
