Scott Sinclair is relishing his first south Wales derby when Swansea City travel to rivals Cardiff on Sunday.

The ex-Chelsea winger, 21, has been in superb form since joining for a bargain £500,000 fee in the summer, scoring 11 goals in 13 matches.

"I haven't really got much experience of a derby and this is one of the biggest derbies in this league and it would be nice to play in," he said.

"When I do eventually play in it, I'll be able to tell you more about it."

Sinclair was signed from Premier League champions Chelsea and became an instant hit at the Liberty Stadium after becoming new manager Brendan Rodgers' first signing since taking over in July.

During his time at Chelsea, Sinclair was farmed out on loan to six different clubs including Birmingham City and Wigan Athletic.

But at Swansea, he has enjoyed his longest run at a club since breaking into football's senior ranks in 2007.

Sinclair has lit up the Championship since moving to south Wales with his sheer pace, fantastic ball-carrying ability and prolific goal-scoring run.

And now he is hoping to continue that form as third-place Swansea take on leaders Cardiff at the Cardiff City Stadium on Sunday.

"It's a big game and everyone keeps telling me it's a big game but you don't understand how big it is until you play in it," said Sinclair.

"Everyone's been telling me what it's about and what it's going to be like but like I said, you don't really realise and understand what it's going to be like until you actually play in it."

Swansea go into the game on the back of a six-match unbeaten league run, in which they have won four and kept clean sheets in the last five.

Cardiff are unbeaten in seven, having won the last five.

"I think the team is getting more confident as each game goes along and picking up three points most weeks will only give the team more confidence," added Sinclair.

"It's a shame Prats [Darren Pratley] got his fifth yellow and is suspended for that game, but we've got the strength in the squad so hopefully whoever fills it they can do as good a job.

"I'm sure it will be great for the fans to watch and hopefully we can get the three points and then go home."
