Sheffield Utd's Darius Henderson two weeks from return

Sheffield United striker Darius Henderson
Henderson has made 65 league appearances for the Blades

Sheffield United manager Micky Adams says Darius Henderson is two weeks away from coming back into the first team.

The 29-year-old striker has been out of the team for eight months after suffering a serious hamstring injury.

"It's great for everyone at the club, but also for Darius, he's had a tough time," Adams told BBC Radio Sheffield.

"He is the one player I have been most excited about getting back onto the pitch, not least of all because of his battling qualities."

He added: "I think he is a handful for defenders and from what I have seen, I think it will be a big boost when he does return."

Henderson was injured during last season's local derby against Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough in April.

After seeing a specialist, it was revealed that part of that hamstring had come off the bone.

Henderson joined the Blades from Watford in July 2008 for a fee of £2m.
