Warnock quiet on Portsmouth link
Sheffield United boss Neil Warnock
Sheffield United manager Neil Warnock has refused to comment on speculation linking him with Portsmouth.

Warnock has frequently been linked with the post, which is now vacant after Alain Perrin was dismissed on Thursday.

But he told the Blades' official website: "I have said enough on that matter, I am just going to get on with the job in hand."

Warnock's contract runs out at the end of the season and he is yet to sign a new deal with the Championship outfit.

However, Blades' chairman Kevin McCabe recently claimed he was confident of keeping Warnock at the club.

"We have an option to extend Neil's contract at the end of the season so, to all intents and purposes, his contract does not end until June 2007," he said.

"As far as we are concerned the board has a fantastic relationship with Neil and will look again at the situation later in the season, as is the norm."

Warnock added: "I can understand our board's reluctance (to finalise a new deal) but enough has been said and it would be going back over old ground."

In a statement announcing Frenchman Perrin's departure, Portsmouth chairman Milan Mandaric hinted that the club would now seek a British manager.

"I really believe a knowledge of British football is an underestimated asset in a manager and the demand of Premier League football are intense," he said.

Ex-Hearts boss George Burley and Crystal Palace manager Iain Dowie are also believed to be in the frame, while former Manchester United captain Roy Keane is considered an outside bet.
