Warnock hails teenage ace
Neil Warnock
Warnock hoping to play Jagielka more this season
Sheffield United manager Neil Warnock is predicting a bright future for teenage ace Phil Jagielka, who is spending a week at the England Under-18s winter training camp in La Manga

The midfielder will be under the guidance of coach Martin Hunter and Football Association director of technical development Les Reed at the camp in southern Spain.

Warnock believes that 18-year-old Jagielka will play a major role in the Blades' future - and he is clearly pleased to have tied him to Bramall Lane for the immediate future.

"He has signed a three-year contract and hopefully he'll play a few more games this season and a lot more in the future," Warnock said.

The Blades boss managed to strike a deal with the FA to delay his journey to La Manga until after his side's FA Cup third round defeat by Southampton.

Former United trainee Jagielka linked up with England U-17s last season, and his call-up to the older age group prompted warm praise from Warnock.

He added: "I am delighted for him. He has worked ever so hard and it is an excellent opportunity for him."
