Robinson poised for County move
John Robertson
Robertson believes Robinson can resurrect his career
Former Newcastle and Wimbledon striker Paul Robinson has arrived in Dingwall for signing talks with Ross County.

County boss John Robertson told BBC Sport: "He has agreed terms and he should sign in time for Saturday.

"He has had a hard time in recent years, but he has a great pedigree and there's plenty of time for him to resurrect his career, starting here."

Robertson has signed French defender Lionel Djebi-Zadi and is in talks with former Motherwell defender David Cowan.

The County manager is also hoping to re-sign former Aberdeen midfielder Fergus Tiernan, who played 19 times for the First Division club in the second half of last season.

But the signing of Robinson, who cost Wimbledon 1.5m from Newcastle in 2000, appears more of a gamble.
He's lost his way a little if the truth be told

He started his career at Darlington and won a 250,000 move to Newcastle but only made two starts before moving to Wimbledon.

Robinson failed to make his mark there and had loan spells with Burnley, Dundee United, Grimsby and Carlisle before moving to Blackpool.

He moved on to Hartlepool and then made 28 appearances for York City last season, scoring four goals.

"He's lost his way a little if the truth be told, but he is a very confident young man and is only 26," said Robertson.

"He's just what we're looking for - a touch under 6ft tall, very quick, with a real eye for goal."

The 23-year-old Cowan started his career at Newcastle and found his career at Motherwell stalled by a serious leg injury.

He played 10 times for First Division St Johnstone in the second half of last season.

The 22-year-old Djebi-Zadi previously played for FC Luzern.
