Kitson signs new Reading contract
Dave Kitson
Kitson has been influential in Reading's rise
Reading striker Dave Kitson has signed a new three-year deal with the club.

The 27-year-old's former contract was set to run out in June 2008 but he has now committed to the club until 2010.

Kitson, who joined the Royals from Cambridge for 350,000 in December 2003, has been the club's top scorer over the past two seasons.

He helped them to promotion into the Premiership and their top-flight debut this season but has spent six months out because of a knee injury.

Kitson returned to action in January and has since scored twice in 10 appearances.

He also bagged Reading's first goal in the Premiership on the opening day of the campaign when he kick-started the side's comeback from 2-0 down as they beat Middlesbrough 3-2.

The announcement of Kitson's new deal comes a day after it was revealed manager Steve Coppell had signed a two-year contract with the Royals.
