Webster clear to play for Rangers
Andy Webster arrives at Ibrox
Andy Webster was allowed to move to Wigan by Fifa
Andy Webster has been given permission to play for Rangers following a meeting of the Scottish Football Association Board of Directors on Monday.

Rangers will be able to field Webster despite a complaint from Hearts about the player's eligibility.

The Scotland defender, who joined on a loan deal from Wigan, had his case referred to Fifa.

And the SFA have now transferred the 24-year-old's registration from Hearts to Rangers with immediate effect.

Wigan signed Webster after the player exploited a new Fifa ruling to free himself from his contract.

Hearts had contested Webster's right to move to Wigan and cut short his four-year deal at Tynecastle by a year.

But Fifa allowed him to sign for the English Premiership club pending a ruling on a compensation fee to the Edinburgh club, which has yet to be agreed.

Webster failed to command a regular first-team place with Wigan, leading to a loan agreement with Rangers.

Webster was injured in his first training session with Rangers last week and will be out of action for about six weeks.
