Pompey claim Palace want Berkovic
Portsmouth's Israeli midfielder Eyal Berkovic
Portsmouth chairman Milan Mandaric says Crystal Palace have shown an interest in signing Israeli international midfielder Eyal Berkovic.

Berkovic has hardly figured under new manager Velimir Zajec and Mandaric admitted there had been contact.

"There's been some conversation and speculation - I should say a bit more serious than speculation," Mandaric told BBC Radio Solent.

"But there is nothing official or concrete at this point."

Mandaric has also dismissed speculation that former boss Harry Redknapp is keen to sign midfielder Nigel Quashie.

Quashie is out of contract at the end of the season and has yet to be offered a new deal at Fratton Park.

Redknapp signed Berkovic for Portsmouth from Manchester City in January 2004.

The 32-year-old playmaker has not been a regular starter this season and since Redknapp's departure he has featured even less under Zajec's regime.
