Port Vale director Mike Lloyd to meet fans after EGM

A group of Port Vale fans protest against the board
Protests from supporters followed several matches at Vale Park last season

Port Vale director Mike Lloyd has told BBC Radio Stoke he plans to canvass the views of supporters in the aftermath of the club's acrimonious EGM.

Lloyd was one of three directors to keep his position, despite the board losing a vote of no confidence.

"I want to go out and talk to representatives from all the various supporters' groups that were involved to get their views," said Lloyd.

"The club's communications have been very poor over the last few months."

He continued: "The views of the supporters' groups need to be listened to. If we don't, where does the club go from there? Utter chaos will prevail."

Local businessman Mark Sims is still to decide whether he will accept an offer to join the board.

Sims was sponsored by majority shareholder Robbie Williams, but has said that he will conduct a thorough check of the club's finances before making a final decision, a stance with which Lloyd said he agreed.

"I made checks before I came on the board," said Lloyd. "I wouldn't expect anybody coming on a board not to do that. It's a very sensible move."

Lloyd, along with chairman Bill Bratt and fellow director Glenn Oliver, won votes for their individual positions at the EGM, which was held at Vale Park on Wednesday.

Vice-chairman Peter Jackson and director Stan Meigh were voted off the board.
