Port Vale captain Tommy Fraser puts faith in youngsters

Port Vale captain Tommy Fraser believes three youth players will make an impact at first-team level this season.

Sam Morsy, Anthony Malbon and Matthew Bell were all named as substitutes at various stages of last season, with Morsy featuring once from the bench.

Fraser told BBC Radio Stoke: "We've got three good kids that have come through that I think can definitely progress."

Vale have also signed striker Justin Richards and goalkeeper Stuart Tomlinson on free transfers.

Micky Adams' side finished 10th in League Two in 2009/10 and will be among the favourites to win promotion, having ended the season as one of the form teams in the division.

As the club skipper, the 22-year-old former Brighton midfielder is more determined than most to push Vale towards the top of the table.

"I would love a promotion, especially being the captain," added Fraser.

"It's good for the CV, but I'm more concerned about getting Port Vale and myself out of this league, up into League One and onto bigger and better things.

"It's not going to be easy, but if we can repeat what we did from December last year for the whole season, we've got a chance."

Vale begin the season with a trip to Bury on 7 August.
