Former Port Vale captain Sam Stockley could be set to return to football in a coaching capacity with Hungarian side Ferencvaros, reports BBC Radio Stoke.

The 32-year-old retired from playing in November because of an eye injury.

Stockley has stated his desire to become a manager or a coach, as well as pursuing a career in the media.

Crewe striker Anthony Elding could also be set to sign. The 27-year-old, whose loan spell with Kettering Town has now expired, is close to agreeing the move.

Elding has negotiated a settlement on the rest of his contract with the League Two club and will travel to Hungary on Tuesday to discuss the deal.

Stockley, who joined Port Vale in June 2008, made 37 appearances before deciding to quit the game on medical advice.

Ferencvaros, the most successful club side in Hungary, are managed by former Derby County, Blackburn Rovers and Sheffield United defender Craig Short.
