Peterborough suspend boss Wright
Peterborough boss Mark Wright
Wright's future at Peterborough is uncertain
Peterborough manager Mark Wright has been suspended by the League Two club pending an internal investigation.

Wright took over as boss in May 2005, after Barry Fry moved up to become director of football at London Road.

Fry said: "Mark Wright has been suspended on full pay pending an inquiry. That's all I am willing or able to say at this time.

"There will be no further statements from the club until the inquiry has been completed."

The former Liverpool and England centre-back had previous spells as manager of Southport, Oxford United and Chester City.

Wright, 42, was not present at Tuesday night's Maunsell Cup final at Rushden and Diamonds and assistant boss Steve Bleasdale took charge of team affairs as the Posh lost 3-2 on penalties.

League Managers Association chief executive John Barnwell confirmed that the club had suspended the manager.

He said: "We have been informed that Mark Wright has been suspended, but cannot make an official statement until the club does."
