Constable pride at England C call

Oxford United striker James Constable has said he is proud to have been included in the England C squad to face Belgium Under-21s.

The 24-year-old has scored 23 goals in the Blue Square Premier this season to earn a place in Paul Fairclough's squad for the game at the Kassam Stadium.

"It's an incredibly proud feeling to be representing my country at this level," said Constable.

"I think it's the highest honour you can achieve."

Tuesday's game is the final of the International Challenge Trophy, which the England side have reached by virtue of topping their group.

The team, made up of players from the Blue Square Premier and below, beat Under-23 sides from Wales and Finland and drew with Italy.

"It's a once in a lifetime thing," said Constable. "For me personally, it's a very proud moment; for me, my family and my friends.

"From the games I've played, the shirt's already framed and hung on the wall, the caps are boxed and it's all just an amazing feeling.

"When you're stood there singing the national anthem and you get that lump in your throat, you realise how lucky and how blessed you are to be able to do what you are doing. I don't think you take it for granted."
