Former Lincoln chairman Trew bought Notts County for £1
Notts County chairman Ray Trew has said that the League Two club will not be going into administration despite having debts totalling around £6m.
Last week chief executive Jim Rodwell said there was a 50/50 chance the club would have to go into administration.
But the Magpies have now settled an unpaid tax bill of £324,000 and are confident they can deal with the current financial problems.
Trew told BBC Radio Nottingham: "We have hatched a plan and we'll succeed."
He added: "With my business hat on, administration was the right thing to do.
"But the people who suffer in administration are the local businesses and we couldn't do that to the local business community.
"We got all the staff in at midday. They were very subdued and shocked. I think everyone, including the supporters, thought administration was a certainty. I'm happy to announce that's not the case."
