Megson fears for Forest's future
Nottingham Forest manager Gary Megson
Nottingham Forest boss Gary Megson revealed his concerns for the club following relegation from the Championship after defeat by QPR.

He said: "A club with the history and tradition of Nottingham Forest should not be relegated after a bad season in the second tier of English football.

"This is one of the lowest points of my career. The target is to come straight back up next season.

"But there is an awful lot of work to be done if we are to turn it around."

Highlighting just how difficult it will be to achieve that target, Megson recalled another awkward memory from this season.

"We played Peterborough - who have just been relegated from League One - in the FA Cup fourth round this season," he said.

"They played us off the park that day, and we were very fortunate to get a 1-0 win."

Megson also suffered the disappointment of relegation while manager of West Brom in 2003.

But he revealed it feels far worse this time as boss of two-time European Cup winners Forest.

He said: "We have to deal with it now. We are all tarred with the brush of relegation.

"The facilities at the club are excellent; from the stadium to the training ground to the Academy.

"But the feature that is not good enough is the one on which we will be judged, and that is the first-team results.

"I need to talk to everyone, to ascertain what we need to do and how we will do it."
