Cobblers midfielder Kevin Thornton signs one-year deal
Thornton scored one goal in 11 matches for the Cobblers last season
Northampton Town midfielder Kevin Thornton has signed a one-year contract extension with the club.
The 23-year-old joined the Cobblers from Nuneaton Town in January on a short-term basis.
Manager Ian Sampson told the club website: "It is clear that he has a lot of talent and a lot of ability.
"The challenge for Kevin is to show that on a consistent basis next season. If he can do that, we will have a very good player on our hands."
He added: "We will get a good pre-season into him and that will certainly benefit him. He didn't have a pre-season last year and that always makes things hard for any player.
"He knows we are giving him a big opportunity and he is determined to make the most of that."
Meanwhile, utility player Andy Holt is leaving Sixfields, having rejected a two-year contract.
"Andy has been a good servant, we thank him for his service to the club over the last few years and wish him well for the remainder of his career," said Sampson.
