Wdowczyk in running for Livi job
Dariusz Wdowczyk
Dariusz Wdowczyk was sacked as Legia Warszawa coach
Former Celtic defender Dariusz Wdowczyk has emerged as a contender for the vacant manager's position at Livingston, BBC Sport understands.

It had appeared to be a straight choice between Clyde player-boss Joe Miller and former Hibernian, Kilmarnock and Plymouth manager Bobby Williamson.

But Livi chairman Pearse Flynn will wait until interviewing Wdowczyk on Wednesday before making a decision.

The Pole was sacked as Legia Warszawa coach in April after poor results.

He had previously been in charge of Polonia Warszawa, Wisla Plock, Widzew Lodz and Korona Kielce.

Flynn had told BBC Sport on Thursday that "another highly-impressive figure with really strong man-management skills has come in from left field".

That man is Wdowczyk, who spent five years with Celtic in the early 1990s before moving to Reading.

Graham Rix, who left Hearts last March after a disagreement with majority shareholder Vladimir Romanov, was ruled out the running after talks with Flynn this week.

Flynn had also spoken to Aberdeen striker and former Dundee United and Inverness boss Craig Brewster.

And hotly-tipped former Motherwell manager Terry Butcher decided to become Brentford manager.

Miller recently insisted he would be staying with Clyde next season.

But, following their last game of the season, he told the media that he was considering a number of options for his future.

The former Aberdeen and Celtic has since had talks with Clyde's board and promised them a quick answer about his intentions.

Livi's First Division rivals are keen to hang on to Miller and revealed that they shortly hope to agree a new long-term contract.

Williamson has also impressed Flynn as he seeks a replacement for the sacked John Robertson.

The former Hibs boss was in charge of Scotland's recent B international against Finland at Rugby Park.

Robertson was sacked as Livingston boss last month with the West Lothian club lying in sixth place in the league.

He had been appointed at Almondvale in February 2006, replacing Paul Lambert.
