Alexander rules out Imps return

Keith Alexander
Alexander has managed Macclesfield since February 2008

Both Lincoln City and Keith Alexander have denied claims the Macclesfield manager could return to Sincil Bank following the sacking of Peter Jackson.

Lincoln vice-chairman Bob Dorrian told BBC Radio Lincolnshire: "I think it would be difficult for him to return.

"We don't expect him to apply and we have not approached him either."

Alexander told BBC Radio Manchester: "I will quash all the rumours talking about me going back. I have a job to do here and I look forward to doing it."

Alexander, 50, led the Imps to four consecutive play-off campaigns between 2003 and 2006.

Jackson and his assistant Iffy Onuora were dismissed on Wednesday following Lincoln's defeat by Darlington in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy, their fifth defeat in seven matches this season.

Coach Simon Clark and head of youth Tom Spall have been placed in temporary charge of the team.
