Swans' O'Leary loaned to Orient

Swansea City stalwart Kristian O'Leary has joined League One side Leyton Orient on a one-month loan deal.

The versatile 32-year-old has played more than 300 games for his home-town club but played just once last season and has not started for 18 months.

The one-time Swans captain can play in either central defence or central midfield but is seemingly surplus to requirements by new boss Paulo Sousa.

Orient have also extended the loan of Andros Townsend until 31 December.

The 18-year-old Tottenham winger has scored once in six appearances since joining the O's on the eve of the season.

O'Leary, who is set to make his Orient debut at Southend United on Friday, said: "Because I didn't play much last season I just want o get some games under my belt.

"It has been frustrating but Orient have five fixtures throughout September so hopefully I will get some game time."

The Swansea academy graduate, who signed a new one-year Swans deal in the summer, has only spent one month away from his boyhood club when he played five games on loan at Cheltenham Town in late 2006.

O'Leary will link up with former Swans assistant boss Kevin Nugent who is now Geraint Williams' right-hand-man at Brisbane Road.
