Mandaric denies talk of takeover

Mandaric has had a bumpy ride as Leicester owner

Leicester City chairman Milan Mandaric says he is constantly looking at ways of improving the club's finances but denies rumours a takeover is imminent.

"I have had a group of people but not to buy the club or invest," Mandaric told BBC Radio Leicester.

"I am not looking to sell the club or anything like that.

"But [it's] to help us review our marketing possibilities, our international exposure and to raise money through the assets of the club."

Mandaric took over as owner of the club in November 2006 with the aim of taking them back into the Premier League.

I am committed and when I give my word I keep that word

But the Foxes were relegated to League One in his first full season in charge.

Under new manager Nigel Pearson, the Foxes returned to the Championship at the first time of asking and have made an impressive start to the new campaign.

And Mandaric is now eager to push for promotion to the top flight and knows a significant cash boost could make a huge difference to their chances.

"You always keep your eye on your financial needs and where you are going," he added.

"We need to look at how to maximise the income of the club other than Milan Mandaric putting his hands in his pocket and I will keep doing that.

"I will always welcome someone who can come and contribute and be a positive support I am not ruling anything out - whatever is best for the club.

"I am here as a maintenance man rather than as a owner of the club. The club is owned by the supporters and I'm here to sort out the club so it is solid going forward.

"If that means I need to bring in some other people that will take place but at this time I am not looking at anything like that.

"I am committed and when I give my word I keep that word.

"I will be here for a long time and as long as it takes to stabilise the club and when I leave it will be much better shape.

"I am not searching for any investment but I am not going to rule it out. If one day something comes then that's fine but there's no such thing.

"The club is in good financial shape so there is anything to worry about anything."
