Midfielder Doyle loaned to Leeds

Leeds United have signed Michael Doyle on a season-long loan from Coventry.

The 28-year-old midfielder scored three goals for Coventry last season and fills the hole left at Leeds after the exit of Fabian Delph to Aston Villa.

The former Celtic trainee has one international cap for the Republic of Ireland and joined Coventry in 2003.

City boss Chris Coleman told the club's website: "We talked to Michael last season and said that maybe it was time for a change for both parties."

Coleman added: "I explained to Michael that he wasn't going to figure as much as last season if we got the targets we wanted.

"He has two years left on his contract and he wants to play, which we can understand, and when the Leeds proposition came about he felt it was good for him and we felt it was good for us."

Meanwhile Leeds boss Simon Grayson has confirmed that they are closing in on another signing.

The BBC understands that both Leeds and Barnsley have had bids accepted for Liverpool winger Adam Hammill.

The 21-year-old played under Grayson during a loan spell at Blackpool in 2008.
