Clark relishing Newcastle return

Lee Clark
Clark's side beat Stockport to book their place in round two

Huddersfield manager Lee Clark wants the focus to be on his players, rather than him, when they face Newcastle in the second round of the Carling Cup.

The Terriers were drawn against the club where Clark spent almost 10 years as a player in two spells.

"It's not me stepping over the white line - it's the new generation," he told BBC Radio Leeds.

"It'll only be a good evening if we put on a good performance and get a positive result."

Clark made more than 200 appearances for Newcastle before being appointed reserve-team manager at St James' Park.

His return to the north east with Huddersfield will be the first as a manager in his own right, but Clark is unsure what sort of reception to expect.

"I'm not really sure to be honest," he said. "Hopefully they'll be a bit upset with me by 10 o'clock because that will mean we've knocked their team out of the Carling Cup and we've progressed.

"I had a good relationship with the supporters but I'm here with Huddersfield Town now so we'll be going there to win the football match, without a doubt."
