Hibernian manager Calderwood not joining West Brom

Calderwood says the link with WBA is "a story in the paper"

Hibernian manager Colin Calderwood says he will not be joining West Bromwich Albion even if Chris Hughton becomes manager of the Baggies.

Calderwood was Hughton's assistant at Newcastle before joining Hibs.

Not long after Calderwood left the Magpies, Hughton was dismissed by the English Premier League club.

And though Hughton is in the frame to replace Roberto Di Matteo at the Hawthorns, Calderwood will not be reuniting with his former boss.

"I want to stay," Calderwood said. "It's not a question - I don't even see it as a question at the minute.

"It's not even a decision for anyone at the minute. Apart from the fact there's an obvious link between us.

"I haven't heard anything at all. It's a story in the paper.

"I speak to Chris regularly and I don't think he's even got the job yet.

"I'm sure he'll be a good and worthy favourite for the job - as it seems at the minute - so it will be interesting to see what transpires from here. I haven't really thought about it.

"I'm thoroughly enjoying my time (at Hibernian). I'm looking forward to really getting my teeth in to what I think is a terrific opportunity for myself - the same as it was when I joined."
