Hereford sign Weale and Gowling

Joshua Gowling
Gowling played 43 games for Bournemouth in 2007/8

Bristol City goalkeeper Chris Weale and Carlisle defender Josh Gowling have joined Hereford on loan deals.

Weale, 26, made one appearance on loan for the Bulls last season, he began his career at Yeovil Town.

He has joined for a month and will be available for this weekend's League One game at Colchester.

Defender Gowling, 23, has joined the Bulls until 3 January, having joined Carlisle this summer after playing for Bournemouth for three seasons.

He made 43 appearances for the Cherries in 2007/08 and attracted the interest of a number of clubs.

The centre-back started out as a trainee at West Brom and played for Herfolge BK in Denmark in 2004.

We have to make every endeavour to make sure that we stay a first division club

Graham Turner

Meanwhile Bulls midfielder Stephen O'Leary will be out for longer than expected with a back injury.

The 23-year-old former Luton Town player, who has been struggling with his back for some time, has been sidelined after suffering from a prolapsed disc.

He is the latest of a number of players to be injured.

And Bulls boss Graham Turner told BBC Hereford and Worcester: "He's going to be months rather than weeks and obviously things like that are quite serious.

"We have to make every endeavour to bring other players in."

Turner admitted the growing injury list of loan players is costing the club financially.

"It does impact upon the financial situation but the most important thing for me is survival at this level, so if we have to put more money out now for more loan players that has to be done," he said.

"We have to make every endeavour to make sure that we stay a first division club."
