Hartlepool clinch Ross move
Clyde midfielder Jack Ross
Jack Ross has led Clyde to the top of Division One
Hartlepool United have signed Clyde captain Jack Ross, who will join them during the close-season.

The loss of the midfielder is a blow for Clyde should they win promotion to the Scottish Premier League.

Hartlepool boss Neale Cooper told his club's website: "It's great news for us and I was desperate to bring Jack here.

"We are always looking to strengthen the squad and in Jack I feel we have brought in someone who can definitely help us improve."

Clyde's recent financial problems have prevented the Cumbernauld club re-signing any of their out-of-contract players, despite lying top of Scotland's Division One.

Hometown club Falkirk failed in a bid to sign Ross, who can play on the right in defence and midfield or central midfield, last season and Scottish Cup finalists Dunfermline Athletic had also been reported as being an interested party.

But Cooper, who knows Ross from his days as manager of Ross County, has persuaded the 27-year-old to join the English Second Division outfit, despite the prospect of playing in the SPL next season.
