Brian Stein leaves post as Grimsby assistant manager
Assistant manager Brian Stein has left Grimsby Town by mutual consent.
Stein, 52, joined the Mariners in 2008 as chief scout under former manager Mike Newell and was promoted to assistant manager in May.
But following Newell's departure from Blundell Park in October, new boss Neil Woods decided a change was required.
Woods told the club website: "Brian has been excellent to work with but there will be a restructure of what's been going on."
He added: "Ultimately it hasn't been working and we need to build the football side of the club.
"We need to get the club out of the situation we are in short-term, while also building a club that won't fall back. That includes the way we train and prepare for games."
Grimsby, who have failed to win in their past 11 games, currently lie second from bottom in League Two, two points from safety.
A replacement for Stein is set to be announced shortly.
