Former star Pennock to sue Gills
Adrian Pennock
Pennock ended his career at non-league Gravesend
Former Gillingham defender Adrian Pennock plans to sue the club over a testimonial he claims he was promised.

Pennock, now manager of Welling, was forced to retire from the professional game three years ago due to injury.

He insists Gills chairman Paul Scally agreed his contract would be bought out and he would be entitled to a testimonial dinner and match.

"The fans will understand it grieves me to have to take action but it is purely out of frustration," Pennock said.

Pennock, who began his career at Norwich before spending four years at Bournemouth, played for Gillingham between 1996 and 2003.

"I served the club willingly and it upsets me it has come to this," he said.

"Over the ensuing two years I have been put off again and again by Mr Scally.

"Now we are not even speaking and I have taken that to mean the club does not intend to fulfil its agreement."
