Falkirk boss John Hughes has fired a warning to three of his players who stalled on signing new contracts.

Bairns captain Jack Ross, midfielder Stephen O'Donnell and defender Kenny Milne failed to respond to a January deadline to sign extended deals.

"We put a contract offer on the table at the beginning of January and none of them came back," said Hughes.

"They let the time limit elapse and I think that's a little bit disrespectful to the club."

Hughes said the three players were now "at the back of the queue" in terms of contract talks.

I am entitled to do what I'm doing for the best of Falkirk football club

The Falkirk boss said he would harbour no ill-feeling towards Ross, O'Donnell and Milne if they opted to leave the SPL club.

"If they go and get something better somewhere else I'll be the first to shake their hand and say 'well done'," he said.

"They are totally entitled to do what they're doing and seeing what there is elsewhere.

"I totally understand that. But I am also totally entitled to do what I'm doing for the best of Falkirk football club."

Hughes said he was looking to add three players to his squad and that his budget would determine who he could keep.

"There's no big deal but I've got a club to run and I need to be fair to the rest of my players," he added.
