Schmeichel gets Falkirk loan move
Falkirk have signed Manchester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel on loan until the end of the season.

He will be available for Saturday's Scottish Premier League game with Dunfermline, subject to international clearance being given in time.

Schmeichel, 20, has had loan spells at Darlington and Bury.

He was effectively fourth-choice keeper at Eastlands and City manager Stuart Pearce is keen to secure the youngster more first-team experience.

Pearce believes playing for Falkirk is the ideal way for Schmeichel to take his career a stage further.

He said: "Sending young players out on loan is an experience you cannot replicate on the training ground or in a reserve game.

"To play matches in the Scottish Premier League is a fantastic opportunity for him.

"I have sent a well-balanced young man out, who has shown to me on the training pitch he is improving every day.

"He is ready to go out on loan now to Scotland when probably last season we felt League Two was his standard.

"He handled that comfortably and we believe this latest loan move is a step up the ladder.

"The way Falkirk have looked after their loan players has impressed us and I have a connection with their coach Brian Rice, dating back to our playing days Nottingham Forest."
