Falkirk complete double signing
Alan Gow and Kenny Milne arrive at Falkirk Stadium

Falkirk have completed the signing of versatile Kenny Milne, who has left Partick Thistle, and former Airdrie United striker Alan Gow.

Both have signed two-year contracts with the club promoted to the Scottish Premier League.

Player-manager John Hughes said of Milne: "He's a player that can cover a wide variety of positions.

"He's strong, quick and is coming into his best years, which I'm sure will be spent at Falkirk."

Milne, who can play in defence, midfield or even attack, had been with Thistle, relegated this season from Division One as Falkirk won promotion, since 2002, having started his career with Hearts.

"He's got a great deal of experience behind him, despite being only 26 years old, and it's excellent news," Hughes told his club's website.

"The left side of the squad needed strengthening and we've certainly done that."

Hughes had previously enthused about Gow when the 22-year-old signed a pre-contract agreement.

It is being claimed that Falkirk beat off competition from other Scottish Premier League clubs for the signatures of both players.

"We have missed out recently on three players, who decided to either stay with their current clubs, or look elsewhere," Hughes added.

"To be honest, if that's their thought process then they're not what we want for Falkirk Football Club anyway, although it's their prerogative.

"First and foremost, I want quality players, but I also need people who want to be here.

"There will be more new faces to come in and our work will continue.

"We've identified some targets from our Portugal trip and, as always, I ask the fans to be patient and trust the judgement of the management team.

"We are building a side which we feel will hold its own in the SPL, and that can't be done overnight."

Falkirk must negotiate compensation with Airdrie as Gow, who joined the Lanarkshire club from Clydebank in 2002, is under 24.
