Ebbsfleet United chairman Duncan Holt has insisted the club is not in danger of folding even though they have no players for next season.

The Fleet are set to relinquish their full-time status after being relegated to Blue Square South.

But Holt told BBC Radio Kent: "There's no danger and there will be a club.

"You can buy a season ticket, there will be a club and we'll challenge in Blue Square South - simple as that. It has to be seen as a rebuilding year."

Fleet boss Daish added; "It does scare me a bit [that they have no players] but it's happened and I have to deal with that.

"We started part time, we went full time and achieved and we've come back to where we are. I'll try my best to get a competitive side who the supporters can be proud of."

The Fleet have been full-time for six years but following their relegation they have asked the club's owners - members of fans' website MyFootballClub - to vote on whether they should go part-time.

Holt said: "We want to put a sensible budget together and at the moment that would definitely be part-time unless we get a very large sum of money from MyFC .

"We've pretty much tied up budgets - which again we need to sign-off through MyFC - and then we can start moving forward in terms of signing players and getting on with pre-season.

The club are currently without any players on their books having lost the only man they offered a new deal to, Darius Charles, to Stevenage.

The Ebbsfleet chief has acknowledged that manager Liam Daish is finding the situation very difficult but he is confident Daish will stay at Stonebridge Road.

"I'm 99% certain," said Holt. "We've had a good conversation with him in terms of what he wants and I think he knows where he is.

"But he's as frustrated as anybody with the way things have turned out and where we are in terms of budgets."
