Scotland signs new Tannadice deal
Dundee United striker Jason Scotland
Jason Scotland has been in erratic form this season
Trinidad and Tobago striker Jason Scotland has signed a new two-and-a-half-year contract with Dundee United.

It is subject to a work permit being granted, with Scotland falling short of the number of appearances required.

But United manager Ian McCall said: "We don't expect that to be a problem, because he is very near to 75% and has proved he is a good asset to the club.

"He has not started the season as we hoped, but he's shown in training he is close to getting back to where he was."

The 25-year-old has been in and out of the starting line-up this season but impressed despite defeat by Dunfermline Athletic on Saturday.

"Jason has a lot of pace and that's a great asset for a striker," said McCall.

"We are delighted to get him tied up for a length of time, because we believe he can have a big future at Dundee United."

Scotland joined United from Defence Force in his homeland at the start of last season.
