Dundee sign nine promising youths
First Division Dundee have signed nine of their most promising players on extended contracts.

Scott Robertson, Paul Dixon, Scott Murray, Bryan Deasley, Craig O'Reilly, Kevin McDonald and Scott Gates have signed deals until 2008.

Mark Allison and Graham Hay have signed up until 2007.

Dundee manager Alan Kernaghan said: "We are talking about players who have shown they have big futures and can do a very good job."

Midfielder Robertson, 20, is already established in Dundee's midfield.

Left-back Paul Dixon, 19, striker Craig O'Reilly, 18, who negotiated his release from Raith Rovers in the summer, and midfielder Kevin McDonald, 17, have been regulars in recent months.

Injuries have forced 17-year-old goalkeeper Scott Murray into first-team duty. Winger Scott Gates, also 17, has also been called up from the youth team.

Bryan Deasley, 17, has come in to replace youth team strike partner O'Reilly in recent weeks.

Mark Allison has been on the bench this season, while fellow 18-year-old defender Graham Hay is now on loan at Montrose.
